Hardware Show

This is where I was last week at this time.  You may be wondering why we would be at the hardware show.  Actually a lot of hardware stores carry canning products and that's our specialty.

Motherhood

This excerpt is from the book, Glimpses into the life and heart of Marjorie Pay Hinkley.  Anything in parentheses is from me.

"I think I felt something of your frustration and challenge to be the perfect mother. Relax.  There is no such thing as the perfect mother who fits all the eulogies.  We just do the best we can with the help of the Lord, and who knows, these children who are struggling to be free (from your arms in a sacrament meeting) may someday rise up and call us blessed.  The trick is to enjoy it.  Don't wish away your days of caring for young children.  This is your great day.  Sometimes we get so caught up in the physical work (hello that's me, miss task oriented check list lady) and trivia that we forget the big picture.  We forget whose children they really are.  When the house is filled with children, noise, and teasing and laughter, you get the feeling this is forever. (how true)  Before you know it they will be gone....Our children grow so quickly out of our reach.  The rewards of mothering are not immediate.  There are times when you are less than appreciated.  I took from the oven one day what I thought was a beautiful casserole, only to have my six-year-old son say, `Mom, how come you baked the garbage?' Then there is the unexpected hug, when you least deserve it.  And while you are enjoying these days of mothering, be sure your demands on your children for perfection are not so heavy that they cannot be children."

Hope of America

Levi got to be in the Hope of America show at the BYU Marriott center on Wednesday evening.  He is one of the students that makes up this flag.  He is in blue.  The flag is made up of all 5th graders.  I got back from Las Vegas just in time to take the kids to this.  It was an amazing program involving 40+ schools and tons of dance groups.  It was a really spectacular thing for him to be a part of.  He really enjoyed it.

What did we do on spring break?

We went to California to visit my family.  We went to take the tour of the Jelly Belly factory (yum, lots of samples and treats) and went to see the Calaveras Big Trees (so amazing).  We also had a family get together on Saturday with lots of food and visiting.

On the last picture that is Bre, to give you some perspective of how enormous those logs are.  There are lots more pics so some scrapbook pages will be coming soon!

More Pages

I know you may be thinking where is Addie and Levi?  Well, Addie was at choir and I mainly wanted some pictures of the matching girls.  Levi wasn't that interested in the photo taking.  I got them matching Easter dresses even though Easter was on General Conference and we didn't get to go to church.  But it's always great to get new spring dresses.  So there ya go.

Leadership

Janette, Mary, Eltie, Amy

I got to go up to Salt Lake on Tue Mar 30th for Stake Young Women's Leadership training.  It was absolutely wonderful!  Don't you love the corny picture by the giant Personal Progress books?   (Love the new Personal Progress books, by the way.)  It was especially great to hear from the General Young Women's Presidency in a more casual setting were we could really see their personalities...as well as some of the women on the board.  There are some new things coming out online that are really exciting!  Their messages were very inspirational.  I took 5 or 6 pages of notes.  Anyhow,  I just love the ladies and girls I get to work with.!  I am so grateful to be in this presidency...'cause I'm learning so much.
